It is experienced, that Reiki heals by calming the mind. The treatment helps to remove toxic and negative energy from the mind and physical body. The detoxification reduces stress and the person feels elevated. Reiki boosts the natural healing ability of the body as such the immunity of the body increases. The improvement is also observed at emotional levels whereby the person tends to be more creative, his concentration and memory increases. In short the benefits of Reiki, as observed, range from simple relaxation to absolute miracles.

Reiki healing is the foundation of Reiki training. While practicing Reiki I, the student gets a good understanding of the different healing points in our body called the ‘Chakras ‘or ‘meridians’ and the auras present around the human body. Most diseases are a consequence of congestion of these Chakras and so there is a need to cleanse these Chakras and auras.

Cleansing these Chakras also involves removal of negativities that has accumulated in our body since birth. Reiki is a hands-on healing system for channeling the Universal Life Energy. The energy is activated in the body by a technique called attunement. As a result of attunement the hands start to radiate the energy whenever we are touching any living organism. The practitioner does this by placing hands on self or someone else’s body, allowing the energy to flow and healing self or his close ones in the process.

It is only on being attuned to Reiki I level that the student can heal self or close friends, family members, pets, plants and animals, but in their physical presence. After Reiki II level, you can heal any living being, no matter which part of the world they are by a divine technique called Distance healing. Distance healing is the beauty and essence of Reiki healing.

On reaching level II, the practitioner is conferred upon with 3 symbols – the Cho Ku Rei (Power Symbol), Sei He Ki (Mental or Emotional Symbol) and Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (Distance symbol). These symbols are sacred healing symbols which enhance the flow of Life Force Energy. They assist the practitioner during the healing process.

The Power symbol is geared specifically for healing the physical body. The Mental or Emotional Symbol works on the sub-conscious level (emotional body) or on the conscious level (mental body), tackling problems of nervousness, stress, fear, depression, anger etc. and heals the emotional and mental state of the person.

The Distance Symbol transmits Reiki energy across time and space. Distance is no barrier for healing. Interestingly, Reiki can also heal by downloading sites on the Internet, all possible because of this Distance Symbol.

The fourth symbol is conferred to the practitioner during the Masters level. It is called the Dai Ko Myo. It signifies expanded wisdom and clairvoyance and used for healing of the soul.
